The working environment in the U.S. was different from that of Japan. Many ways in which Americans communicate were clearly beyond my cultural comfort zone. I met Jo Ann Ross in 2009 and worked with her until 2012. I had no interest in coaching before I met her as I thought I knew a lot and it was a waste of time. [But] from our first meeting, I felt I wanted to work with her. She helped me overcome some deep seated fears that were holding me back in my career but, up to meeting Jo Ann – I had never stated…to anyone.
